Tonight’s NFL Thursday night game should determine who takes control of the AFC West. The Raiders come in at 10-2 while the Chiefs stand at 9-3. Kansas City won the first meeting in Oakland back on October 16th, 26-10. Tonight’s game in Arrowhead will be frigid. There are reports that a layer of ice has formed on the surface of the field under the tarp that is covering it. Game time temperature should be around 29 degrees. Not bad for a December game in the heartland. This game will be a battle of wills. Like a knife fight in a phone booth. Each team comes in relatively healthy. Oakland is currently averaging almost 30 points a game and rushing for 114/game. Kansas City is averaging 23/points per game and rushing for under 100 yards per game. Those are some pretty significant differences. That being said, this is a late season division rivalry game with 1st place on the line in one of the best football environments in the NFL. Kansas City is a 3 and half point favorite. Basically that is the home field advantage. Coach Andy Reed has been here before, but don’t count out Jack Del Rio’s ability. This should be one of the best games of the season. Unless it’s snowing or extremely windy I don’t expect the temperature to be a factor. As with all close games it comes down to a few things. Turnovers and big plays. This one will be tight. Kansas City by a whisker. 26-24.
